Delta Air Lines announced that it will increase staff pay by another 5% this year, getting ready for the busy summer travel season.
Starting June 1, the pay raise will apply to various workers, including flight attendants, ground handlers, mechanics, and some office workers.
However, it won’t apply to pilots, who already got big pay increases after their union negotiated a new contract last year following stagnant wages during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA started a campaign to unionize Delta’s cabin crew in late 2019.
Last year, Delta increased staff pay by 5%, and this latest raise is the third one the Atlanta-based airline has announced since 2022.
With these new raises, starting pay for Delta’s mainline operation in the U.S. will go up to $19 an hour from $16.55.
Delta’s CEO, Ed Bastian, mentioned in a memo to staff on Monday, “With this increase in base pay and starting rates, we continue our commitment to provide Delta people with industry-leading total compensation for industry-leading performance.”
