In the last few days, the new season of Emily In Paris has generated a lot of hype. It’s incredible how quickly the season passes and just how quickly it ends! Spoilers ahead for Season 2, read at your own risk! It is no news that the show was hated for its profound mediocrity, while it garnered genuine fans on the other end! The Americanization of a pretty Paris was quite hard to watch without feeling the second-hand embarrassment, but it would surely be a lie to say that the show isn’t quite gripping. Seeing Emily Cooper work through Paris in a completely new and abandoned city!
Emily in Paris, the critically lauded yet popular Netflix sitcom, has returned for season 2, complete with an outlandish wardrobe and a tumultuous love triangle. The show concludes with a very agonizing confession to her one true Parisian beau, but alas!
Things To Look For:
Emily, the protagonist in France who doesn’t speak French, is Lily Collins. She is an American who travels to Paris to bring an American perspective to Savoir, a French marketing agency. There, she attempts to excel in the business while looking for love and dealing with a cultural gap with her “boring” and mundane upbringing in the Midwest of the United States. Kim Namjoon of BTS gave Season 2 props after Ashley Parks, Emily’s first friend, Mindy, sang the band’d hit tune ‘Dynamite’ in one of the episodes. We have Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu playing Emily’s harsh and bitter French boss at Savoir in Paris who, by the end of the season, takes a liking to our protagonist, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Emily’s attractive downstairs neighbor and Emily’s romantic interest whom she loses at the end of season 2, Camille Razat as Camille, Emily’s new friend and Gabriel’s girlfriend, someone who Emily has a falling-out with. They are the central characters, and they will undoubtedly return in Season 3!
Anticipating A New Season:
Emily in Paris season 2 dealt with the repercussions of Emily and Gabriel’s passionate night fast, but Camille and Emily still had a lot to contend with. While Emily’s personal life was in disarray, her work life appeared to be thriving. Emily’s employer, Sylvie, eventually warmed up to her, and her coworkers, Luc and Julien, did the same. Emily’s employer from the marketing agency in Chicago, Madeline Wheeler, played by Kate Walsh, was introduced to us in the second season, and she is quite the pain. Though there’s no official word of a new season, the highs and lows on which Season 2 ends create a clear pathway for a new season, with a cliffhanger!

Season 2, What Happened So Far?
Due to Madeline’s irritating American tactics, Sylvie left Savoir and took all of its staff and clients with her, damaging a lot of Savoir’s French business. She also gave Emily a job in the new firm she’s starting, allowing her to stay in Paris indefinitely while simultaneously telling the audience how she’s grown fond of the better American. This gave her the confidence to inform Gabriel about her genuine feelings, but things did not go according to what she envisioned.
The tension between Emily and Gabriel that could be cut with a knife is shot down. Camille has been invited to move in by Gabriel, leaving Emily in tears as she hurries out to make a phone call. Emily informs Sylvie that she has decided on her job offer at the ending of the season. Emily, who was supposed to leave Paris after her tenure at Savoir, hasn’t acted on her pinky promise to Camille of not pursuing Gabriel because of the same thought. The new season shows throughout how hellbent Camille is on getting Gabriel back, which is why, in the end, we see her in Gabriel’s home.
Emily also has a British lover, who is quite indifferent to her existence initially, but as this season goes by, things get serious between them. Alfie has to move back to London, and the couple decides on doing long-distance. Emily and Alfie are not broken up at the time of her planning to confess to Gabriel, but since that didn’t work out well, she still has Alfie, that is, if nothing goes haywire in Season 3. Knowing how the writers have written the show previously, we best know things will change drastically!
