Prosecutors Oppose Trump’s Request to Lift Order in Hush Money Case

It seems like there’s a lot of legal back-and-forth happening around the gag order on former President Donald Trump in his hush-money case.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is opposing Trump’s request to lift the gag order, which was put in place after he was found guilty on all 34 felony counts.

The prosecutors argue that the gag order is necessary to maintain the fairness and integrity of the proceedings, and they want it to remain in place at least until after the sentencing hearing on July 11.

Trump’s lawyers argue for lifting the gag order, citing First Amendment rights and the upcoming presidential campaign.

Trump’s lawyers, on the other hand, are pushing to have the gag order lifted, claiming that it restricts his First Amendment rights, particularly as he campaigns for president.

They argue that the order is even more restrictive given recent events, including a campaign event on behalf of President Joe Biden outside the trial courthouse and continued public attacks against Trump by Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen.

The lawyers are also pointing to the upcoming debate between Trump and Biden on June 27, suggesting that the gag order should be lifted to allow Trump to engage in unrestrained campaign advocacy.

It’ll be interesting to see how the judge rules on this issue, given the complexities and the high-profile nature of the case.
