Netflix To End Support For Apple Devices on iOS 16 or Older

Netflix is ending support for older iPhones and iPads running iOS 16.

Users with devices operating on iOS 16 are receiving a notification from Netflix which reads, “We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS 17 or later.”

Earlier in July, Netflix had also discontinued support for the third-generation Apple TV, informing subscribers of the change via email.

In the email, Netflix stated that this adjustment is being made to “ensure you maintain the best possible Netflix viewing experience.”

Now, the Netflix app will no longer support devices that cannot be upgraded to iOS 17. This includes the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the first-generation iPad Pro and iPad 5.

Users with these devices will no longer receive future Netflix updates, including important bug fixes and security patches. Apple is set to release iOS 18 on September 16th.
