If you’re not familiar with Google Flights, you might not realize that your search results don’t always display the cheapest flights.
The platform’s default algorithm takes into account various factors, such as trip duration, the number of stops, and travel times.
While it has always been relatively easy to expand your search results to see the full flight list, Google is now introducing a change that simplifies this process even further.
A new “Cheapest” tab will soon be available, allowing users to sort all flight options strictly by price.
Google Flights will build itineraries that may include longer layovers or combine flights from different airlines, travel agencies, or nearby airports, all in an effort to show the absolute cheapest options
If you find an itinerary that suits your needs, Google will direct you to the appropriate sites to complete the booking.
This feature is being rolled out globally over the next couple of weeks, though some users have already started to see the new button.
While you may not always be thrilled with the compromises required for the lowest fares, the option can be a crucial tool if you’re working within a tight budget.
