Galaxy Watch 5 Gets The Wear OS 5 Update As Samsung Rolls Out Open UI 6 For Newer Devices

The Galaxy Watch 5 is beginning to receive the One UI 6 update in the US. This follows the software’s rollout, based on Wear OS 5, to Galaxy Watch 5 devices in other regions.

The transition to One UI 6, built on Wear OS 5, hasn’t been entirely smooth for the Galaxy Watch series.

While the OS debuted with the Galaxy Watch 7, it didn’t become widely available on older devices until recently. Samsung had released a beta version for users to test, but even that arrived later in the year than many expected.

Now, the Galaxy Watch 5 is among the latest models to start receiving One UI 6. Previously, the Watch 5 and Watch FE gained access to the OS, but only in Europe.

Today, Samsung appears to be extending the update to Galaxy Watch 5 models in the US.

Although Samsung has posted the changelog for the update on its website, some details remain unclear. It’s not specified whether the update is limited to Bluetooth models or if it also includes LTE versions.

Additionally, it’s uncertain if the Pro variant is part of the rollout. For now, the changelog confirms that the Galaxy Watch 5 Bluetooth model will immediately receive One UI 6 in the US.

One UI 6 is a substantial update, making the extended wait for users all the more frustrating. The update introduces new watch faces, an enhanced health suite with customizable workouts, and a Sleep Apnea detection tool.

Overall, it’s a highly anticipated upgrade that should soon be available on Galaxy Watch 5 models.
