The minister praised the “extensive experience” of a Legislative Council member, noting it as a valuable addition to the enterprise department. Diane Kelsey has been assigned to oversee the business agency within the department.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston expressed his firsthand awareness of the depth of knowledge she brings to her role as an MLC. Ms. Kelsey expressed her eagerness to collaborate with and learn from experts in the island’s business community.
This appointment is the latest in a series of changes made by the chief minister, following Julie Edge’s replacement with Daphne Caine as education minister last month. Elected to the Manx parliament’s revising chamber in 2021, Ms. Kelsey previously served as an aerosystems engineer officer in the Royal Air Force.
In addition to her role at Business Isle of Man, Ms. Kelsey will maintain her positions in the Cabinet Office, the Isle of Man Post Office, and as the Armed Forces Champion. Her new responsibilities will include contributing to the local economy strategy and the engineering and manufacturing review.
Ms. Kelsey expressed her delight in joining the department’s business division, which focuses on a broad portfolio of initiatives and projects aimed at developing a more secure, vibrant, and sustainable economic future for the island.
