As part of the expanded partnership, three varieties of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – the original glazed, chocolate iced with sprinkles, and chocolate iced “kreme” filled – will be delivered daily to McDonald’s restaurants.
These delectable treats will be offered individually or in boxes of six and will be available from breakfast hours until the end of the day, while supplies last.
He highlighted that the collaboration accelerates the development of Krispy Kreme’s existing Delivered Fresh Daily channel, leveraging distribution density and production utilization.
“The expanded test will help us learn more about operational impact on a larger scale as well as explore customer demand,” McDonald’s said at the time.
Krispy Kreme has enhanced its supply chain, established a support team, and implemented technology and new equipment to facilitate the expansion.
In premarket trading on Tuesday, shares of Krispy Kreme surged by as much as 16%.
Meanwhile, rival chain Wendy’s recently announced a partnership with Cinnabon to introduce a new item to its breakfast menu.
The Cinnabon Pull-Apart, described as a sweet treat transforming the classic cinnamon roll into bite-sized pieces, aims to leverage Wendy’s breakfast offerings for sales growth and margin acceleration opportunities, according to Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner.
