Apple Reveals Its Upcoming Macbook Devices With Release of MacOS 15.2

Earlier this month, Apple introduced macOS 15.2, inadvertently confirming the arrival of new MacBook Air models set for release next year.

In a surprising move, Apple made the macOS 15.2 restore files available for two yet-to-be-announced devices: the “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and the “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025).”

While it’s no shock that Apple plans to update the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with the M4 chip in 2025, this accidental reveal is uncharacteristic of a company renowned for its secrecy.

What to Expect from the New Models

It was previously reported in October that these updated MacBook Air models are likely to launch between January and March.

Rumors suggest no significant design overhauls, with updates primarily focused on the integration of the M4 chip and other incremental enhancements.

Potential new features include a Center Stage camera and an upgrade from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4 ports.

M4 Chip Performance

Apple has already rolled out M4 chip options for its MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini in earlier updates this year.

According to Geekbench benchmarks, the M4 chip delivers a noticeable performance boost, offering around 25% faster multi-core CPU speeds compared to the M3 chip.

These details underscore Apple’s continued commitment to refining its product line, with the MacBook Air poised to benefit from the next generation of Apple Silicon.
