James Hillier Blount celebrated his birthday on February 22nd and was born in 1974. James Blunt is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer who goes by the stage name James Blunt. He served under NATO during the 1999 Kosovo War as a former reconnaissance officer in the British Army’s Life Guards regiment. After serving in the military, he came to fame. Back to Bedlam was his first film, released in 2004, and it has received a lot of accolades since then.

Blunt, like his father, is a pilot who earned his fixed-wing private pilot license when he was 16 years old. Around the same time, he developed a strong interest in motorcycles. Blunt was committed to serving in the military forces for a minimum of four years after being supported through university on an army bursary. He enrolled in the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in intake 963 and quickly advanced through the ranks to captain. He exited the army on October 1, 2002, after six years of service.

A Musical Touch:
Blunt got piano and violin lessons as a child, but a fellow student at Harrow introduced him to the electric guitar when he was 14 years old. During his time off from the service, Blunt would write songs. Todd Interland, Elton John’s manager, with whom he used to share a residence, was suggested by a backing vocalist and songwriting colleague. He picked the stage name “Blunt” primarily to make it easier for others to pronounce; “Blount” is pronounced similarly and is his legal last name. “You’re Beautiful,” Blunt’s third single, was his breakthrough smash hit. In the United Kingdom, the song debuted at number 12! When Blunt’s song “You were Beautiful” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2006, she became the first British artist to do so in nearly a decade; the last British artist to do so was Elton John in 1997. With “Candle in the Wind 1997.” In some ways, he carried on the torch of his musical forefathers.

Charities and Help:
Having lived military life, he knows firsthand how help is needed. With his earnings so much as 20 million dollars per year, James Blunt always lends a helping hand to various organizations that need help. Blunt is a patron of Help for Heroes, a charity that raises money for improved infrastructure for wounded British veterans, and has played benefit concerts for the foundation. He generates revenue for Médecins Sans Frontières, a medical charity. He also contributes to Crisis, Doctors Without Borders, Gibson Foundation, Help for Heroes, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Robert F Kennedy Memorial, Victor Cruz Foundation, Victory Junction Gang, and World Vision, amongst many others.
