A 17-year-old employee at a fast-food restaurant sustained critical injuries after being shot through a drive-thru window on Dickerson Pike early Saturday morning, as per officials.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) responded to a call just before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, reporting a shooting involving a McDonald’s employee located in the 3300 block of Dickerson Pike.
According to authorities, a red or maroon Chevrolet sedan carrying two females in the front and two males in the back was passing through the drive-thru.
The occupants of the vehicle became agitated over an order discrepancy and engaged in an argument with the staff. It was reported that a customer at the first window was charged incorrectly and expressed dissatisfaction with the 17-year-old employee at the second window.
As the staff attempted to address the issue, one of the passengers in the car’s rear seat produced a pistol. In response, the teen employee retrieved his own pistol from his waistband, and both parties exchanged gunfire, according to police accounts.
The injured 17-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in a pickup truck. Subsequently, his firearm was recovered from the residence of a friend who had assisted in transporting him to the hospital.
Officials stated that despite the critical nature of his injuries during the incident, the teen is now in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon.
While no suspects have been apprehended, authorities disclosed that they are actively pursuing leads to ascertain the identities of the individuals in the Chevrolet. Further details regarding the incident have yet to be released.
