Microsoft Decides To End Xbox Ambassadors Program For Gamer Interactions

Microsoft has announced that it will be closing its Xbox Ambassadors program after 13 years of operation.

The Xbox Ambassadors initiative served as a platform for gamers to engage with each other and Microsoft on various topics, providing opportunities for feedback on Xbox games and hardware. It also hosted gaming sessions, fostering a community-driven space for fans.

The program aimed to have its participants represent the Xbox brand by promoting a positive and welcoming environment for gamers.

Although Ambassadors were not official employees, they were tasked with creating a supportive community.

To qualify for the program, participants needed to meet specific criteria, including having at least 1500 Gamerscore and being 17 years or older.

Outstanding contributors were often rewarded with Xbox merchandise, both physical and digital, as well as chances to enter sweepstakes. Now, this long-standing community service is coming to an end, as Microsoft has confirmed.

In a recent blog post, the Xbox Ambassadors team reflected on the 13 years of service and how it helped gamers build connections with one another.

However, the program is entering its final phase, concluding on October 15. Until that date, participants have the opportunity to redeem any remaining rewards or codes.

Following its closure, Microsoft will be overhauling the program and integrating it into its expanding “Rewards with Xbox” system, with more updates expected later.

As part of the winding down, certain features like the Seasonal Ambassador Quests are already being phased out.

However, the Accessibility Explorer Path will remain available for now, allowing gamers who haven’t yet unlocked the Accessibility Ally badge to do so, though no XP will be awarded.

Microsoft explained that the decision to shut down the program reflects the Xbox brand’s evolution and its desire to meet the needs of a broader, global community.

The post highlights that players are increasingly finding value in other engagement platforms, including Fanfest, the Xbox Insider Program, and Rewards with Xbox.

Looking ahead, Xbox will introduce a new, globally-inclusive platform, Xbox Research, allowing gamers to share feedback directly.

This will also offer players early access to new games and features, contributing to the improvement of the Xbox ecosystem.

Additionally, the Xbox Ambassador Champions will be rebranded as Xbox Community Champions, maintaining their core mission of inclusivity and community support while assisting the Xbox team in new ways.
