Monster Hunter Game Series To Get Open RPG Version For Smartphones

The Monster Hunter series is about to bring the thrill of monster hunting to your smartphone.

Capcom has revealed it will partner with TiMi Studio Group—known for popular titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite—to develop a new spinoff titled Monster Hunter Outlanders.

This upcoming game is described as an “open-world survival game” that allows for solo play or cooperative play with up to four players.

Outlanders promises to retain the essential elements of a Monster Hunter experience, including exploration, hunting, and crafting, while introducing live-service and social components typical of mobile gaming.

Since the release of Monster Hunter: World in 2018, which became Capcom’s best-selling game, the Monster Hunter franchise has grown into a global phenomenon.

This growth has included a live-action movie, the smaller-scale Monster Hunter Rise, and a location-based game made in partnership with Pokémon Go developer Niantic.

Capcom is also gearing up for the next big entry in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds, expected next year.

Given MonHun’s popularity and TiMi’s proven record with mobile games, along with the franchise’s established reputation for portable gaming, Outlanders shows promise as more than just a standard mobile release.

However, there is no official launch date yet. Capcom has confirmed that “several play tests” will be available ahead of the game’s eventual release.
