The One UI 7.0 beta update, now available for the Galaxy S24 series in the United States, introduces a new call recording functionality. Although Samsung refrains from explicitly naming it “call recording,” the feature is accessible under the Call Transcripts option, enabling users to record voice calls on Galaxy devices running One UI 7.0.
This functionality addresses the long-standing inconsistency of call recording availability in the US due to legal concerns.
With One UI 7.0’s Call Transcripts feature, users can manually initiate the recording of an ongoing voice call. While the manual activation process might feel cumbersome for some, the presence of the feature ensures it is available when needed.
When a call recording is initiated, the phone notifies both participants (caller and callee) that the recording is underway. After the call ends, users can access both the audio file and an AI-generated transcription of the conversation. Currently, Samsung supports transcription in more than 20 languages.
This feature bears resemblance to Google’s Call Notes, first introduced with the Pixel 9 and later extended to older Pixel devices through a software update. Similarly, Apple has incorporated a comparable feature into iPhones with the release of iOS 18.
The Call Transcripts feature in One UI 7.0 beta is expected to transition into the stable version of the update, anticipated for release in the first quarter of next year. For more insights into Call Transcripts and other hidden features of One UI 7.0, check out our detailed video coverage.
