Blockchain

A blockchain is a shared, append-only digital ledger duplicated across thousands of computers, or nodes. Transactions are grouped into blocks and linked cryptographically, so once data is recorded it is practically immutable. Because no single party controls it, a blockchain lets strangers transact without a trusted middleman — the core innovation behind Bitcoin and every cryptocurrency.
