On-Chain Data for Beginners: Reading Bitcoin Like a Pro

Exchange flows, active addresses and realized price reveal what holders are actually doing. A practical primer.

On-chain analysis studies the public blockchain itself rather than price charts. Three beginner-friendly metrics stand out: exchange net-flows (coins moving to exchanges often signals selling pressure), active addresses (a proxy for real usage), and realized price (the average cost basis of all coins).

None of these are crystal balls. Used together, they add context that candlesticks alone cannot — for example, distinguishing a genuine accumulation phase from a relief rally. Start by tracking one metric consistently before layering on more.
